What's Your Story

UPDATE 12/16/13 – Artist Stories is now accepting written submissions. For more information, read the submission guidelines. Below is the original post calling for video projects.

Just a few days ago I launched a new WordPress site — Artist Stories.

One of my passions is to improve discussion about the social issues people in the arts experience. Through the Artist Stories site, I encourage creative people to submit videos that tell their stories of what it means to work as an artist, particularly how being an artist places us at risk for certain social issues.

Here is an excerpt from the site:

“Artist Stories is a video project created to raise awareness about the challenges of living a creative life. People who pursue creative careers are often at risk for lack of health insurance and health care, steady income, and/or stable housing. As one might imagine, challenges in meeting basic needs due to the precariousness of a creative career can lead to stress-related health and emotional conditions. Unfortunately, this is not even an exhaustive list of social issues faced in the creative community, which you will find out more about when you watch the videos.”

To learn more about this project and/or to submit a video, please visit the Artist Stories site.

I look forward to your videos!

  1. Reblogged this on THE VENUS ENVY and commented:
    Artists, get your videos ON!!!

  2. I don’t have a video but an essay. I don’t know that would suffice for this project.

  3. P.S. Originally it was a call for video, but I opened it up — just FYI for anyone else interested. 🙂
